FWB CARAVANS

WELCOME ABOARD!

Ever since the Caravans without Borders began, we have heard from the volunteer sponsors a story that repeats itself: “we think we are going there to donate and we discover that we are the ones who receive”.

This is the power of fraternity in action. We wish you a happy journey “inside” yourself, going towards the other and receiving the joy of serving.

WHAT IS A FWB CARAVAN?

Guided by the values of the FWB, with the vision of “shaking the world” and instill people with the confidence that it is possible to make a better world through good actions, the “FWB Caravan” were born, which will allow people to live a fraternal experience that will be cherished forever!

To live out the values of the FWB mission and contribute to transforming lives, the organization’s humanitarian efforts take a sensitive, respectful, technical, and thoughtful approach in the places where the projects are located. Therefore, all activities are guided by ethics, moral values, and transparent guidelines.

The caravans are voluntary and aim to offer the participants a fraternal experience and encourage everyone to be an agent of change. In addition, it seeks to introduce the participants to local realities, whether with their deficiencies and vulnerabilities as well as with the cultural and human richness, such as the strength of the African people – who teach us about humility and purity -, and of our Brazilian brothers and sisters. Therefore, we will serve our brothers and sisters through the donation of affection, discipline, respect, cooperation, and compassion.

The caravans are complementary to the projects carried out by the FWB. Thus, they are organized with the participation of sponsors interested in volunteer work, according to their area of personal or technological knowledge, or professional skills. It is important to point out that, to participate in the caravans, it is necessary to be a sponsor of one of the organization’s projects.

By signing up, get ready for an experience that will change your life. “I am because we are”, the Ubuntu philosophy that guides our caravans. Your service, coming straight from the heart, will be welcomed by all people assisted by our projects, who have been living in precarious conditions, with little food and resources but always keeping the hope that better days will germinate for them.

CARAVAN TO UBUNTU NATION - 04/26 TO 05/05/2026

What are the goals of this caravan?

Every Fraternity Without Borders caravan is more than a journey. It is an opportunity to experience the depth of human connection, compassion, and fraternity in action. Our mission is not only to serve, but to walk side by side with the people of Dzaleka Refugee Camp, sharing presence, stories, and moments that transform us from within.

This will be an international general caravan, open to people from different countries and backgrounds. It will focus on several core areas of the Ubuntu Nation project, allowing each volunteer to participate in the way that best aligns with their heart, skills, and willingness to help.

We will begin with the mothers of the camp, who continue to carry unimaginable burdens with strength and dignity. Volunteers will be invited to connect with them, listen, support, and help develop activities that bring comfort and practical assistance.

We will also support the health area, offering opportunities to assist in clinics, promote basic health education, and accompany local professionals in their daily care efforts.

In the education area, volunteers will be able to collaborate with teachers, work with children, assist in school logistics, and bring creative learning tools to classrooms that thrive on love and simplicity.

Our sports initiatives will create safe and joyful spaces for children and teenagers, using movement and play as powerful tools for healing and inclusion.

We will also contribute to housing and infrastructure, supporting construction projects and other improvements that bring dignity and safety to families in need.

Throughout the caravan, we will experience powerful moments of empathy, compassion, generosity, presence, and solidarity. These are the moments that leave lasting impressions, that shift perspectives, and that remind us of what truly matters.

This is not just a trip. It is an invitation to be part of something meaningful. To give. To receive. To allow yourself to be changed by the beauty of human connection.

Come with us. The experience is intense, emotional, and unforgettable. And you are welcome just as you are.

When is planned to happen? How long does it last?

The humanitarian work will be from April 26th to May 5th. The volunteers arrive in Malawi on April 26th and depart on May 5th, 2026.

How much does it cost? How do I pay for it?

Travel and Participation Costs

Volunteers are responsible for booking and covering the cost of their own international round-trip flights. These arrangements should be made after participation in the caravan is officially confirmed. We recommend purchasing your tickets as early as possible to find better prices.

In addition to airfare, there is a fixed fee of US$700 that covers all on-the-ground expenses, including transportation, accommodation, meals and beverages, translators, maintenance staff, and logistical support.

Please note that certain costs are not included in this fee. These may include visa fees, required vaccinations, and international health insurance. These additional expenses will vary depending on your country of origin. Guidance and support regarding these requirements will be provided by the caravan coordinator.

All caravans also require a US$100 registration fee, which is paid after the participant attends the online orientation session (offered monthly).

What else do I need to know?

All volunteers are important for the FWB activities carried out in the projects. This entails and demands an important responsibility from each volunteer, as it involves participating in the lives of people who are very vulnerable and who at some point were invisible. Therefore, for the volunteer’s purposes to be aligned with those of the FWB, it is essential that:

  • know the purpose of the caravan;
  • know the FWB mission, vision, and values;
  • research about the place where you intend to carry out the volunteer activities;
  • understand that the volunteer’s role is to work for a better world;
  • realize that FWB humanitarian caravans are not intended for social tourism; and
  • register to the caravan and get invited to the monthly caravan orientation session.
